The trail begins with a gentle climb through bamboo forests before reaching Bihi Phedi and Ghap. This section of the trek is particularly beautiful, with the sound of the river below and towering cliffs surrounding the narrow valley. You will cross several wooden and suspension bridges decorated with colorful prayer flags, adding a spiritual atmosphere to the journey.

As you approach Ghap, you enter a region where Tibetan Buddhist culture becomes more prominent. You will notice ancient mani walls carved with Buddhist prayers, small chortens, prayer wheels, and homes built in traditional Tibetan style. The influence of Tibetan culture is deeply connected with the history of the Nubri Valley, where many communities have preserved their traditions for centuries.

From Ghap, the trail climbs through magnificent forests filled with rhododendron, pine, and juniper trees. During spring, the hills become vibrant with blooming rhododendron flowers, Nepal’s national flower. Lucky trekkers may also spot Himalayan wildlife such as blue sheep, monkeys, and various mountain birds.

After several hours of gradual ascent, you reach Namrung, an important village and checkpoint in the Manaslu region. Namrung offers your first impressive views of the high Himalayan peaks and provides a comfortable resting place before moving toward higher elevations.

    Altitude Gain: 550m
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

Today is one of the most scenic days of the Manaslu Circuit Trek as you enter the upper Nubri Valley and experience dramatic Himalayan landscapes surrounded by some of Nepal’s most impressive peaks.

Leaving Namrung, the trail climbs gradually through forests and open landscapes. As you gain elevation, the vegetation begins to change from dense forests to alpine scenery. The views become increasingly spectacular, with snow-covered peaks appearing above the valley.

The trail passes through traditional Tibetan-influenced villages including Lihi and Sho. These settlements showcase the unique lifestyle of mountain communities living in harmony with the harsh Himalayan environment. You will see stone houses, barley fields, yak grazing areas, and Buddhist monuments reflecting centuries-old traditions.

One of the highlights of today's journey is the first magnificent view of Mount Manaslu (8,163m), the eighth-highest mountain in the world. The sight of this massive Himalayan giant rising above the valley is an unforgettable moment for trekkers.

Continuing onward, you reach Lho village, one of the most beautiful settlements on the Manaslu Circuit. Lho is famous for its impressive Ribum Gompa, a Buddhist monastery overlooking the village. Today is considered one of the most memorable days of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. The trail takes you deeper into the high Himalayas, following the upper Budhi Gandaki Valley toward Samagaon, the largest and most important village in the region.

After breakfast, the trail climbs gradually through alpine landscapes with breathtaking views of Manaslu and surrounding peaks. You pass through Shyala village, one of the most scenic settlements on the route. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of a spectacular Himalayan range including Manaslu, Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli, and several glacier-covered peaks.

The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic as you leave behind forests and enter a high mountain environment. The wide valley, stone houses, grazing yaks, and colorful prayer flags create a feeling of stepping into another world.

Before reaching Samagaon, you may visit Pungyen Gompa, an ancient monastery located in a peaceful mountain setting. The monastery provides a beautiful viewpoint and offers insight into the spiritual traditions of the local people.

Samagaon is the cultural heart of the Manaslu region. The village is home to the Nubri people, whose Tibetan Buddhist traditions have remained largely unchanged for generations. Walking through the village, you will see traditional stone houses, prayer wheels, mani walls, and locals living according to Himalayan customs.

The village also serves as the main acclimatization point before crossing into higher elevations.

    Today's Highlights

    • Spectacular views of Mount Manaslu
    • Shyala village viewpoint
    • Pungyen Gompa monastery
    • Tibetan Buddhist culture
    • Traditional Himalayan lifestyle
    • Arrival at Samagaon

    Trekking Tip:
Samagaon is a perfect place to slow down, explore local culture, and prepare your body for higher altitude.

    Walking Duration: Optional 3–7 hours
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

A proper acclimatization day is essential for a safe and successful Manaslu Circuit Trek. Rather than staying completely inactive, we recommend a gradual exploration hike around Samagaon to help your body adapt to the increasing altitude.

There are several beautiful options depending on your energy level.

    Option 1: Birendra Lake Hike

A short and rewarding hike leads to Birendra Lake, a stunning turquoise glacial lake located beneath the Manaslu Glacier. The peaceful surroundings and reflections of snow-covered peaks make this one of the most beautiful places in the region.

    Option 2: Pungyen Gompa Hike

This spiritual journey takes you to an ancient monastery surrounded by incredible mountain scenery. The area offers spectacular views of Manaslu and provides a peaceful environment for meditation and reflection.

Option 3: Manaslu Base Camp Hike

For experienced trekkers seeking a challenge, the hike toward Manaslu Base Camp provides an unforgettable high-altitude experience with close views of glaciers and Himalayan giants.

The acclimatization day is also an opportunity to explore Samagaon village, interact with local residents, visit monasteries, and learn about the unique Tibetan Buddhist traditions of the Nubri Valley.

    Today's Highlights

    • Adaptation to high altitude
    • Birendra Glacier Lake
    • Pungyen Gompa
    • Views of Manaslu Glacier
    • Tibetan Buddhist culture
    • Rest before higher elevation trekking

    Trekking Tip:
Never underestimate acclimatization. A rest day at Samagaon greatly improves your chance of safely crossing Larkya La Pass.

After taking breakfast, we will do city tour Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple and Boudhanath Stupa. We need to apply of issuing permit in Manaslu Area with your original passport. Overnight in Kathmandu.

    Walking Duration: 3–4 hours
    Distance: Approximately 8 km
    Altitude Gain: 345m
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

After a rewarding acclimatization day in Samagaon, your Manaslu Circuit Trek continues toward the remote high-altitude village of Samdo. Although today’s walking distance is relatively short, the journey offers some of the most spectacular Himalayan scenery of the entire trek.

Leaving Samagaon, the trail gradually climbs through an open alpine landscape above the Budhi Gandaki River. The dense forests disappear completely at this altitude, replaced by wide valleys, rocky terrain, grazing areas, and magnificent views of snow-covered Himalayan peaks.

As you walk through this remote wilderness, you will notice the landscape becoming increasingly similar to the Tibetan plateau. The region's unique geography and history have created a strong cultural connection between Nepal and Tibet. The local people, known as Nubri inhabitants, continue traditional practices influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, including yak herding, agriculture, and monastery-based community life.

Along the trail, you will pass several mani walls, prayer stones, and Buddhist landmarks decorated with colorful prayer flags. The peaceful surroundings and panoramic mountain views make this section particularly meaningful for travelers seeking both adventure and spiritual connection.

Samdo is a traditional Tibetan refugee settlement located close to the Nepal-Tibet border. The village sits beneath impressive peaks and offers incredible views of Manaslu, Simnang Himal, Nagdi Chuli, and surrounding mountains.

Because Samdo is located at high altitude, today is intentionally shorter to allow proper acclimatization before the challenging crossing of Larkya La Pass. Spend the afternoon resting, exploring the village, or enjoying the spectacular Himalayan sunset.

    Today's Highlights

    • Scenic walk through the upper Budhi Gandaki Valley
    • High-altitude Himalayan landscape
    • Tibetan-influenced Samdo village
    • Traditional yak herding culture
    • Prayer flags, mani walls, and Buddhist traditions
    • Stunning mountain views

    Trekking Tip

Although today’s trek feels easy, avoid rushing. Your body is adapting to nearly 4,000 meters altitude, and proper rest is essential for crossing Larkya La Pass safely.

    Walking Duration: 4–5 hours
    Distance: Approximately 11 km
    Altitude Gain: 585m
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    Accommodation: Basic Mountain Teahouse

Today you move closer to the highest point of the Manaslu Circuit Trek—the spectacular Larkya La Pass. The trail leaves Samdo and gradually climbs toward Dharamsala, also known as Larkya Phedi, the final overnight stop before crossing the pass.

The journey begins with a gentle descent toward the Budhi Gandaki River before crossing a wooden bridge. From here, the trail gradually ascends through barren alpine landscapes where vegetation becomes increasingly limited due to the altitude.

You will pass through the historic trading route once used by local communities traveling between Nepal and Tibet. The views become more dramatic as you approach the Larkya Glacier region, with towering peaks surrounding the valley.

Along the way, you may see Himalayan wildlife adapted to this harsh environment, including blue sheep (bharal), Himalayan birds, and occasionally marmots. The peacefulness of this remote region creates a true wilderness experience.

As you approach Dharamsala, you will see the landscape dominated by glaciers, rocky mountains, and snow-covered peaks. The surrounding scenery provides a powerful reminder that you are entering one of Nepal's most spectacular high-altitude environments.

Dharamsala is a basic mountain settlement with limited facilities. Because of the altitude and cold conditions, accommodation is simple. Most trekkers arrive in the afternoon, allowing enough time to rest and prepare mentally and physically for tomorrow’s challenging Larkya La Pass crossing.

Your guide will provide a detailed briefing about the next day’s journey, including the early morning departure, weather conditions, and safety precautions.

    Today's Highlights

    • Final approach toward Larkya La Pass
    • Remote Himalayan wilderness
    • Views of glaciers and high peaks
    • Historic Nepal–Tibet trading route
    • Blue sheep and Himalayan wildlife possibility
    • Preparation for the highest point of the trek

Today is the most challenging, rewarding, and unforgettable day of your Manaslu Circuit Trek. You will cross Larkya La Pass (5,106m), one of the most spectacular high mountain passes in Nepal.

You will start early in the morning, usually before sunrise, because weather conditions at the pass are generally more stable during the early hours. The trail gradually climbs through rocky terrain and glacial landscapes as you make your way toward the pass.

The ascent is physically demanding due to the altitude and cold conditions, but the incredible Himalayan scenery makes every step worthwhile. As you reach the top of Larkya La Pass, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of some of the world's most impressive mountains, including:

After celebrating your achievement, the trail descends steeply toward the other side of the pass. The descent requires careful walking as the path can be rocky and slippery.

Eventually, you reach Bimthang, a beautiful mountain settlement surrounded by forests and spectacular peaks. After a long day of trekking, a warm meal and comfortable rest at the teahouse provide a perfect end to this incredible Himalayan adventure.

    • Panoramic Himalayan views
    • Glacier landscapes

    Altitude Loss: 1,420m
    Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
    Accommodation: Mountain Teahouse

Leaving Bimthang, you enjoy magnificent views of Mount Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and surrounding peaks. The trail follows the Dudh Khola River through rhododendron forests, pine forests, and peaceful mountain landscapes.

The dramatic change in scenery is one of the unique features of the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Within only a few days, you experience everything from Tibetan highlands and glaciers to lush Himalayan forests.

The trail passes through several traditional villages where Gurung culture becomes more prominent. Compared with the Tibetan-influenced upper Manaslu region, lower villages reflect a blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditions.

Tilije is a beautiful village known for its traditional houses, agricultural terraces, and friendly local people. It is an excellent place to relax after crossing the challenging mountain pass.

It is considered one of Nepal's best alternatives to the Everest and Annapurna trekking regions.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is located in the Gorkha District of north-central Nepal near the Tibetan border. The route lies within the Manaslu Conservation Area and follows the Budhi Gandaki River before crossing Larkya La Pass and descending into the Annapurna region

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is rated as a moderate to strenuous trek. While no technical climbing skills are required, trekkers should be physically fit and prepared for long walking days, steep ascents and descents, and high-altitude conditions. The biggest challenge is crossing Larkya La Pass at 5,106 meters.

Yes, beginners with good physical fitness, determination, and adequate preparation can complete the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Regular cardio exercise, hiking practice, and following a properly acclimatized itinerary significantly increase the chances of a successful trek.

The trek is possible during June to August, but monsoon rains can cause slippery trails, landslides, and reduced mountain visibility. This season is generally less popular than spring and autumn.

Yes. The Manaslu region is a restricted trekking area, and trekkers are required to trek with a licensed guide through a registered trekking agency. Independent trekking is not permitted under current regulations.
